Job Description




1.
Job Purpose:  

To supervise, guide and co-ordinate with Vendor, Freight Forwarders and others concerned, all activities relating to Major Project Traffic of the company purchased materials to ensure on time delivery.

Principal Accountabilities:

Direct and maintain the effectiveness of procurement traffic policies, procedures and services for all projects.

Enhance traffic functions through interaction with end users.

Certify all freight forwarder’s invoices for payment release advice to VPS. Initiate revisions or issuance of credit notes (CN’s) by FF for discrepancies found and ensures submission of back-up charging documents to clients as applicable

Appraise guide, support and train Traffic personnel as required and in line with Company’s policy and procedures.

Initiate and advise any potential necessary proposal to enhance development of traffic activities and performance

Meeting with Customs & Port Authorities to enhance cooperation and ensure smooth handling operation.

Verify/submit various reports as requested by AVP-P/VPS through Head of Traffic

Direct and control the assignments of Traffic coordinators for each project.

Monitor the effectiveness of Subcontractors services and assist in their performance evaluation.

Ensure Traffic requirements are clearly indicated on the PO to avoid unforeseen transport restrictions.

Ensure recruitment of well qualified and capable personnel as member of the interview panel for the section.

Administratively control, appraise, supervise professional guidance and motivate traffic team members.

Manage the traffic services within the allocated budget.

Develop an overall traffic plan to highlight all projects workloads.

Participate in the resolution of any specific traffic problem.

Carry out visits to supplier shops for packages and special shipments.

Monitor  the performance of the section in liaison with all the project teams and managers/directors

Ensure the full awareness and implementation of the applicable requirement of the Company Quality, Environment, and Health and Safety systems/policy.

Highlight issues with paramount importance to procurement management for their guidance

Meeting with Abu Dhabi Port/Terminal to negotiate rates in order to achieve competitiveness for NPCC

Estimation for Project Traffic man hours.

Regularly check for market rates related to shipping to ensure competitiveness using our contract rate.

Detect and report to Head of Traffic any situation or opportunity that may advance NPCC’s position in improving competitive edge over other competitors.

Keep the Head of Traffic periodically informed of any critical situations or major concern, highlight problematic areas and propose solutions.

Pre – qualify prospective Freight Forwarding contractors and manage the issuance of tender documents of Freight Forwarding services.

Arrange vessel and or aircraft chartering as/when required in coordination with Traffic Coordinators and PMT.

Assist PMT/Offshore logistics in arranging barge for Over dimensional and Heavy lift

Provide necessary assistance to buyers and recommend most feasible mode of transport / Incoterm considering time, cost and operational impact

Knowledge Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree In Business Administration or related field

12 years’ experience in Traffic

Has hands on experiences in Major Project Traffic Activities

Computer literate

Good command of written and spoken English

Communication skills
